Do I have to be gay to join the team?
Not at all. Anyone can join the Nashville Bulls no matter what your age, race,
gender, religion, skill level or sexual orientation.
Is the Nashville Bulls primarily a club for competitive play?
No. The team is designed to offer people of all skill levels the opportunity to
play together and improve their skills. It’s all about getting out there
and having a good time…winning is just an added bonus.
What type of commitment is expected from me?
Whatever you can give. We understand that people are busy with work, relationships
and life. So come when you can and get ready for some fun on the field.
When and where are the practices?
We practice every Monday and Wednesday at 7pm at the Natchez
Field on Vanderbilt campus at the corner of 31st and Natchez Trace. Mondays
are designated for drills while Wednesdays are used for scrimmages (a practice
session or informal game).
When and where are the games?
Sunday is game day. Games are usually held at Elmington
Park in West Nashville. Game times vary but are usually in the afternoon.
The captain of the team will send an e-mail beforehand to confirm time and place.
What are the people on the team like?
Talk about diversity! We have men and woman, gay and straight, white, black
and latino, ranging from 20 – 40 years old including jocks, businessmen,
students and creative types.
I’ve either never played soccer before or I am a soccer superstar.
Am I too good/not good enough for the team?
Our team includes everyone from absolute beginners to people who played in college.
So whatever your skill level, you will have no problem fitting into the team.
But I’m out of shape, is that ok?
Of course. Not everyone is David
Beckham and we understand that. The team is all about having fun so just
come out and give what you can. Just be sure to stretch beforehand!
I’d rather not do this alone. Can I bring a friend?
Sure, the more the merrier.
So what do I need to bring to practice?
Be sure to wear comfortable, loose clothing, a good pair of sneakers and a pair
of shin guards. You might also want to invest in a soccer ball and a pair of
cleats at some point.
What is the cost involved?
If you join the team, you will have to register to be part of the Nashville
Sports League. Cost varies on how many people are on the team but should
be around $45 a person. You will also have to purchase a Nashville Bulls t-shirt,
which you will wear on game day.
